Solar power is the result of converting sunlight into
electricity. Sunlight can be converted directly into
electricity using Photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly
with concentrating solar power (CSP), which normally focuses the sun's energy to boil water
which is then used to provide power.

WIND POWER

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into
a useful form of energy, such as electricity, using
wind turbines. Several countries have achieved
relatively high levels of wind power penetration,
such as 19% of stationary electricity production in
Denmark, 11% in Spain & Portugal, and 7% in
Germany and Ireland in 2008. As many as
80 countries around the world are using
wind power on a commercial basis.

BIOFUELS

Biofuel is defined as solid, liquid, or gaseous fuel obtained from relatively recently lifeless or living biological material & is different from fossil fuels, which are derived from long dead biological material. Also, various plants & plant-derived materials are used for biofuel manufacturing. Globally, biofuels are most commmonly used to power vehicles, heat homes, and for cooking.

TIDAL POWER

Sometimes called tidal energy, it is a form of hydropower that converts the kinetic energy of tides into electricity or other forms of power. Tidal energy is generated by the relative motion of the Earth, Sun, and the Moon, which interact via gravitational forces. A tidal energy generator uses this phenomenon to generate energy. The stronger
the tide, either in water level height or tide
current velocities, the greater the potential
for tidal energy generation.

Geothermal power (from the Greek roots geo, meaning earth, and thermos, meaning heat) is
power extracted from heat stored in the earth.
This geothermal energy originates from the
original formation of the planet. Approximately
70 countries made direct use of geothermal
heating in 2004. More than half of this energy
went for space heating, and another for third
heated pools. The remainder supported
industrial & agricultural applications.
